Products or Categories Break AMP Pages
Products or Categories Break AMP Pages
AMP pages have strict HTML, JS, and CSS rules.
If your product or category content contains code that does not validate when you check your Google Webmaster Search appearance results, it means that those AMP pages are not being indexed which will hurt your SEO.
There are a couple ways to fix this.
The first way is to edit the content that is causing the issue. The product description, header or footer, or the category header or footer is where you'll usually find the issue, although sometimes custom field content also creates the problem.
The most common cause is inline styles - these should be in a CSS file anyway and it's a good opportunity to make that happen.
The other cause javascript or image related, and if you don't want to get rid of those things you can use the second method of fixing a problem category or product.
The second way is very easy. Click on the AMP tab for the product or category that's causing issues and create simplified content that doesn't break AMP rules.
Remember, your AMP pages are for SEO only. You don't need to give your customers the entire catalog of information for the product or category. Give them just enough to spark interest so they visit the "real" store page where all the details are.
